I am a UX designer with various design experiences in graphic design and motion design. Before learning design, I had ten years of experience in learning painting.
At the beginning of my study of design, I believed that art is interlinked. Both design and painting need high visual aesthetics (unity, coordination, details, etc). However, with more and more in-depth understanding and research on design, especially after the in-depth study of UX Design, I began to have a different understanding.
I think painting and design are fundamentally different. Painting is a form of self-expression (ideas, emotions, perspectives, etc.), while the design is a service, serving your audience. Learn as much as you can about your audience so you can maximize the use of empathy in your design.
